2010 GaREAT High School Soccer Classic
Divisions/Dates
- Boys Varsity - September 25-26, 2010
- Girls Varsity - October 2-3, 2010
Number of Teams
- Eight teams per division will be accepted.
- Divisions will be separated into two groups of four teams.
Format
- Each team will receive two full-length matches with 40-minute halves. Half-time will be 10 minutes in length.
- Each group will consist of semi-finals, with the winners playing in the championship game, and the losers playing in the consolation game.
- Based on team registrations and travel requirements, the tournament will be played on either one or two days. This will be determined after all registrations are submitted.
Tournament Fee
- $150/team (includes tournament entry and referee fees).
Entry Deadline
- Team registration and payment must be received by May 1, 2010.
Rules of Competition
- Except as otherwise provided, NFHS rules of the game apply to all competitions.
- Substitutions shall be in accordance with NFHS rules of the game.
Check-In Procedure
- Upon arrival, each Coach and/or Faculty Representative should report to the registration table to check-in and submit an official team roster.
Game Ties/Overtime
- If there is a tie at the end of regulation, two 5-minute sudden death (first score wins) overtime periods will be played. Teams will change sides at the end of the first 5-minute period. There will be no break between overtime periods.
- There will be a 5-minute break between the end of regulation and overtime.
- If the score is still tied at the end of the overtime periods, kicks shall be taken from the penalty mark, in accordance with FIFA, to determine the winner.
Play Conditions
- Home team is listed first and, in case of color conflict, must change to alternate color jerseys.
- In the event of inclement weather, the Tournament Director, in consultation with the referees, will determine if a game is to be played. Once the game has begun, the decision to continue play rests with the referees.
- Games are considered completed if one half or more of the match has been played. If the match is stopped at halftime or earlier, the game can be continued or terminated, weather permitting.
- In the event the tournament is terminated due to weather, no refund will be given.
- Under no circumstances will the Tournament Committee be responsible for any expenses (including entry fee) incurred by any team.
Protests
- The referees' decisions concerning all aspects of the match are final. No protests will be permitted.
